Oestrogen and progesterone are the two dominant reproductive hormones in women. At menopause their levels start to drop, but commonly progesterone levels fall much faster, creating a hormone imbalance known as oestrogen dominance.

How to Use Wellsprings Serenity Cream

Two doses of cream should be applied to the body daily, one in the morning and one in the evening. Each dose of cream is 1/8th of a teaspoon (0.5ml). Simply dab the underside of your little finger halfway to the nail if using a jar, or gently press the pump if using our pump bottle. The amount should be about the size of a garden pea.

The cream should be applied to thin tissue areas of the body, rotating between different areas each day. The best application areas are the inside of the lower and upper arms, the inner thighs and the sides of the abdomen.

Depending on where you are in your hormonal journey you will need to take short breaks from application each month to maintain the sensitivity and optimal absorption of the hormone receptors.

Pre-Menopause (still having regular periods)

Counting day one of your period as the start of the four week application cycle, take a two week break then apply the cream twice daily in the 3rd and 4th weeks of the cycle. Repeat this 4 week cycle.

Peri-Menopause (having irregular periods approaching menopause age)

Follow the guidance below for Menopause/post-menopause but if a bleed occurs at any point within the three week application period pause the cream for 1 week and then start a completely new 3 week period of application.

Menopausal, Post-Menopause or Post-Hysterectomy (no longer having periods)

Apply the cream twice daily for 3 weeks, pause application for 1 week. Repeat this 4 week cycle.

If you're new to Wellsprings...

Whichever application regime you're using we recommend that new customers use a double dosage (2 pea-sized amounts of cream, twice a day) for the first month of application. Also, please ensure you finish the full jar or pump bottle of your cream to allow time for your hormone levels to stabilise and symptoms to be properly treated.

What is bioidentical progesterone?

Bioidentical progesterone is the same as the progesterone hormone produced naturally in the body. As such it is treated by the body the same way and can perform all the functions of the body's own progesterone.

What's the difference between Serenity and conventional HRT?

Most conventional HRT treatments prescribed to treat progesterone deficiency employ chemically modified, artificial progesterones known as progestins. While performing in some ways like bioidentical progesterone, these substances are alien to the body and not treated the same way.

How can a cream get the progesterone into my body?

'Transdermal application' is the method of delivering substances into the body through the skin. It is used in products such as nicotine patches and pain-killing gels. When taken orally, progesterone gets removed almost entirely by the liver. When applied in cream form over 90% of the progesterone content is absorbed.
